Jacqueline Uhlmann on Leading Löwenbräukunst and Building Community

Jacqueline Uhlmann is the spirit shaping Löwenbräukunst today. Though being responsible for such a formative community within Zürich’s cultural life is no easy task, this kind of responsibility is nothing new to her, as she has long been bringing people together in numerous ways within the art world throughout her career. Jackie was the fair manager at Liste Basel for several formative years after 2009, helping to establish the fair’s central philosophy of inclusion and the support of emerging galleries. She was also closely involved in representing Switzerland internationally through her role at the Swiss Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2019.

You-and-me is much more than you for yourself, and me for myself
— Jacqueline Uhlmann

In her current role managing Löwenbräukunst, Jackie not only balances the commercial and public programs within the community but also ensures that the art district—representative of the city’s art scene—stays true to its mission. She is currently working to expand the district with newcomers, such as Haus Konstruktiv, which is moving in next year. In this episode of Swizz Art Biz, our host, Tanya König, talks to Jackie about the mission of Löwenbräukunst and its future development. Through this conversation, we learn how the ethos of the art district and Jackie’s philosophy of community building are woven together, shining a light on a truly inspiring career in the art world.
